Both the government and the oligarchy's media are trying to portray this case as a conflict between barbarism and civilization. We are asked to believe that president García is some kind of Tsar Peter the Great who is determined to westernize La Selva (peruvian rainforest) at all costs. And the multinational oil corporations are supposed to be the agents of “civilization”. This is so pathetic.
People are dying and Peru is becoming fascist.
